Protect Your Home And Your Ghosts This Halloween

Halloween night is looking to be a good one this year, with more Americans planning on celebrating the ghoulish holiday after a quiet 2020.  But with more little goblins on the streets, the potential for homeowner risk goes up as well.  Help keep everyone safe this year by adding these three steps to your Halloween night preparation:

  • Clear The Path:  Avoid potential slips and falls by removing toys, yard tools, loose stones, wet leaves, and other debris from the path to your front door.  And as always, provide a well-lit home for the little ghosts that come your way.
  • Blow Out The Candles.  Instead, create spooky lighting and illuminate jack o lanterns with glow sticks, battery-operated candles, and strobe flashlights.  All the flicker without the flame.
  • Restrain Rover:  Little strangers in spooky costumes at your front door can make even the calmest canine edgy and unpredictable.  Keep everyone safe by keeping pets away from the front door.

Most of all, be safe, have fun and enjoy the treats.

EPB&B Is Going Pink For Awareness

October is  Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Elliott, Powell, Baden, and Baker is helping to spread the word.  This is a month-long annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease and to support women by helping them get access to education, screening, and support.

According to statistics, in 2021;

  • Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in American women.
  • 1 in 8 US women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • For women in the US, breast cancer death rates are higher than those of any other cancer besides lung.
  • Men too are affected with 1 in 833 being at risk of the disease.

“Breast cancer can be hidden and not always a lump you can feel or changes you can see,” says EPB&B Personal Lines Account Manager and breast cancer survivor Donna Jones. “Please have your annual mammograms done without fail as it could save your life.”

HERE is how you can help.

EPB&B Proudly Supports Oregon Music Hall Of Fame

For the fourteenth consecutive year, Elliott, Powell, Baden, and Baker is proud to be the title sponsor of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony.  The Oregon Music Hall of Fame honors Oregonians who have made outstanding contributions to, or significant impact on the evolution, development, and perpetuation of the music industry. In addition to EPB&B significant sponsorship support has been provided again this year by our partners in the Insurance industry;  Liberty Mutual InsuranceSafeco InsurancePhiladelphia InsuranceMutual of Enumclaw Insurance, and Oregon Mutual Insurance

One of the most significant outcomes of generous OMHOF sponsorship is the ability to offer yearly scholarships to selected graduating Oregon high school seniors who have exhibited serious pursuit and accomplishment in their personal musicianship – and who are college-bound music majors.

“Elliott, Powell, Baden & Baker Insurance has been a supporter of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame from the ground floor,” explains Terry Currier, Board President of OMHOF and owner of Music Millenium.  “They helped to make our Annual Induction Ceremony a reality by becoming a title sponsor of our first ever event fourteen years ago, and they have been our title sponsor ever since.  We can’t thank Elliott, Powell, Baden, and Baker enough for their generous support in helping make our goals of preserving the musical arts in the state of Oregon possible.”

EPB&B is proud to be the title sponsor at the fourteenth annual induction ceremony held October 9, 2021 at the Alladin Theatre. EPB&B Supports PHFS Family Reunion

Giving back to our community is a core value at Elliott, Powell, Baden, and Baker and once again we are proud to support Portland Homeless Family Solutions by being a sponsor at their annual Family Reunion fundraiser held Friday October 8, 2021. PHFS is an organization that helps homeless families with children get back into housing and stay there long term. Mindful of COVID precautions, PHFS moved their annual fundraiser to a virtual event again this year but the team at EPB&B was out in full force to show their support with a night of socially distant fun and fundraising.

Last year alone, through their work with their prevention, education, and shelter programs PHFS served 1,234 kids and their families, providing the support that builds dignity, restores power, and promotes autonomy for families.

Portland Homeless Family Solutions continues to be a successful, innovative leader in helping families keep their long-term housing,” says EPB&B Producer Frank Baccellieri, “and we are grateful for what they bring to our city.”

A fun night for a great cause.

Whether it’s providing housing for families in a tight spot, serving hot meals to people in need, or supporting the arts through funding student scholarship programs,  we welcome the opportunity to pay it forwards by supporting  organizations in the community that help improve the lives of others.
