Eat In Or Dine Out: Five Delicious Team Picks

Decisions, decisions, decisions.  Here in Oregon we have no shortage of delicious dining options to choose from and  Elliott, Powell, Baden and Baker is fortunate to call many of them our valued insureds.  So whether you are in the mood for a sit down steak dinner or a slice of pizza on the run, here are just a few favorite recommendations from the team here at EPB&B;

  • Pepino’s Fresh Mexican Grill. “Good Mexican food at great prices,” says Phillips of another of her fav food finds (yes, she gets two picks).  “I love their combo plates when I can’t decide on what I want.
  • HOTLIPS Pizza.  You cannot beat it”,  Jill Perucca, EPB&B’s Vice President of Operations, says of the handcrafted pies, “and for a night in, they deliver beer and wine too!”
  • Crossroads Coffee Cafe.  I’ve been going to Crossroads for over twenty years,” say Lori Dryer, EPB&B Personal Lines Account Manager of the one time coffee stand turned brick and mortar. “It has a cozy atmosphere and the best part is when the owner Bonnie, hands you your coffee with a “have a blessed day.”
  • Cannon Beach Bakery. “I start every morning I am at the coast at the Cannon Beach Bakery,” says EPB&B President, Marc Baker, “sometimes with a flakey marionberry turnover, sometimes with a spicy sailor jack, um….most of the time with both.”

Thank you for supporting our local restaurants.  Mangia, bon apetitie and chow down.

The Ultimate Wedding Day Surprise

Talk about making an impact!  Last month Portland Homeless Family Solutions, a valued Elliott, Powell, Baden and Baker insured, had a big gift waiting for one special couple on their wedding day.  After reaching out to their village, PHFS received donations of a wedding cake, wedding flowers, a professional photographer, wedding dress alterations, a  night at the Heathman Hotel, dinner at the Ringside, and more, surprising the couple on their big day.

“The work that Brandi Tuck and the PHFS team does in the community is a perfect example of how, when people pull together, we can make  a significant impact on those in need in this community,” says EPB&B president Marc Baker.  “It is why we are honored to support this  wonderful organization. ”

Thank you PHFS for all you do for others in our community.

EPB&B Is Going To Disneyland

That’s right, the team at EPB&B is walking our way to Disneyland.  Well, virtually anyway.

Each Friday the thirty participating EPB&B team members will submit their miles walked for the week (no cheating allowed) to head Mouseketeer, CFO/HR Manager, Chris Harte.  Chris will track our progress and when we reach 987 miles we will have a celebration.

“A group virtual walk is a fun way to promote health and connection,”explains Chris, ”and when I pitched the idea to a couple of team members it was suggested we head to the happiest place on earth.  Maybe next time we will head to Disney world!”

Look out Mickey, here we come.

Protect Your Precious Metals

It is no secret that this past year has brought an increase in break-ins and thefts in the Portland Metro area. Here at Elliott, Powell, Baden, and Baker Insurance, we have identified a steep rise in catalytic converter thefts. Catalytic converters change harmful substances in a car’s exhaust gasses, such as carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, and hydrocarbons, into less toxic substances like carbon dioxide and water vapor through chemical reactions.

“Catalytic converters contain precious metals (mostly platinum) that are valuable, “explains Erica McDaniel, Claims/Workers Compensation Specialist at EPB&B Insurance, “some are being cut out of cars and taken on the spot. In other circumstances, the vehicles are being stolen and then parted out.”

Prius’ are specifically at higher risk because it takes longer to burn out the precious metals, and higher prices are being paid for Prius cast.

We encourage everyone to consider taking extra precautions in these uncertain times. Contact us for more information on how you can protect your property.
