EPB&B walks Portland to Coast for cancer awareness

Proving to be a great team not only in the Portland Insurance business, but on the road raising money for cancer awareness as well. Seven EPB&B team members, headed out to tackle the 128-mile 2024 Portland To Coast relay last weekend, otherwise known as the most popular and largest walking relay race in the world, annually drawing participants from over 40 countries and all 50 states.

This is the third year EPB&B has had a team enter the relay in support of cancer awareness, thanks to the organizational efforts of Personal Lines Account Manager, Donna Jones.

“Everyone we work with has either batled cancer or been touched by a loved who has had the disease and this walk reminds us of those who have had to go through this journey,” Donna says when asked why she continues organizing an EPB&B team for the relay. “EPB&B is about family and I am so proud to work for a company that supports this cause. I thank EPB&B and the Baker family for supporting this fight and my co worker family for sharing this weekend once a year to walk our hearts out for this great cause.”

Walking was not required to join the fun, as several employees and friends served as volunteers on the course, providing support, guidance, and cheering on the team.

“Nothing beats getting to know people on a deeper level than when crammed into a vehicle for 24+ hours,” added Commercial Lines Account Manager, Tina Dehut. “As a team we had the opportunity to practice a new level of patience at when frustration levels were high.  When you combine a lack of sleep, adrenaline, and cramped quarters, you really get to know who people are and how they handle themselves when out of their comfort zone.”

EPB&B President was there step by step (and supplying the team with much needed caffeine treats),” I am grateful to experience a rural part of Oregon while learning more about my team away from the office.”

Following the race the team celebrated at a Seaside beach house for rest, tacos and team bonding.

Congratulations to team EPB&B for a race well walked.
