St Vincent De Paul food pantry at St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham is where you will find Elliott, Powell, Baden, and Baker Personal Lines Account Manager, April Preston, two Saturdays a month. April began volunteering four years ago when her mom, a parishioner at the church, invited her to help out. April’s enthusiasm for the organization was contagious, and soon her co-worker, EPB&B Personal Lines Account Manager Denice Nelson asked to join in. A dynamic duo was created.
“I would pick Denice up in the morning, and after our volunteer shift, we would go out to lunch,” April says.
Between COVID restrictions and schedule changes, April and Denice are no longer able to volunteer together, but both remain actively involved at the pantry.
“It’s a great organization. The people who receive their services all have their own story and situation,” April explains, “sometimes people just need a little help until their next payday, and this helps fill the gap.”
Denice concurs, “it truly is an amazing organization, and I enjoy being a part of it.”
Thank you, April and Denice, for the fantastic work you do both inside EPB&B and out in our community. You make a difference.
